My alma mater IIT Bombay celebrated its 46th convocation yesterday (08-08-08). President of India Pratibha Patil addressed the convocation as the chief guest. Incidentally the President of India is the most powerful person in the organizational structure of IITs, and Indian central universities being their ex officio Visitor. Like the governor of an Indian state is the chancellor of all the universities in that state, President of India is the visitor for IIT's.
